Affiliate Marketing 101

There are a million ebooks for making money online from home. Most of them cost in the realm of 30-40 bucks a pop. What I’m about to share with you is absolutely free.

My personal income for affiliate marketing is about $2,000 a month on the average and this is the method that has worked for me. The key is not to give up. My first weeks I was lucky to make $100 a month until I fine tuned my techniques. In order to save you that learning curve, here is my own personal way – tweak it out to fit your working style best and then repeat it over and over with each account and you’ll see a steady increase in your income.

And without further ado, here you go:

Chapter 1 – The Starry Eyed Affiliate

I went into affiliate marketing pretty starry-eyed and got a rude awakening. A rude and EXPENSIVE awakening.

My first venture into affiliate marketing was with “Google Ads for Free”. It’s basically using your website as real estate and then using that money to pay off your Adwords advertising fees – effectively getting “your Google Ads for Free” and hopefully making a little money along the way. What they don’t tell you is that no one wants to buy ads on a website that doesn’t have an extremely decent amount of traffic, a page rank better than 3 (preferably even higher) and that takes a little time to build.

I kept buying the next “must have” guru’s book and failing at making a dime online. I subscribed to this service, that service, bought this and bought that “must have” tool and builder program – I spent so much time completely changing what I had set up to fit the criteria of whatever I was reading – I was just spinning my wheels. So I decided the next campaign, I was going to set it up like I wanted to and not because some guru’s guide said it was the best. I took kinda the best from many things and the SEO I knew and suddenly I had a campaign that just went crazy with activity. Something I was doing for that one was right!

I looked carefully at everything I had done for this particular campaign and I broke it into steps and did it again. Bang! This campaign paid off too. Once that started I spent the next 6 months getting the steps tight and streamlining the process. It has worked in the large majority of sites I’ve put up – however there’s one campaign, I’m not sure why I like the product so much but I can not make a campaign work – but I keep trying on that one – if it ever hits – it will be its own chapter here!

Now what I’m going to show you first is how to find a niche, put up a site, the “must have” pages for Google to help raise the relevance of your website, promote it for free, then I’ll get into the other ways to promote that cost a little and also some tools and toys you may want to use to make your life easier. A year ago I was lucky to make $20 a week on my affiliate campaigns. As of today, my affiliate campaigns are averaging bringing in about $2200 a month right now and it’s continuing to grow at a steady pace. The key is that I’m only spending about an hour to an hour and a half per day on my affiliate marketing to maintain the momentum. What I’d like to do is show you how to do it too.
Chapter 2 – Finding a Niche
What’s a niche?
“Weight Loss” is not a niche – it’s too broad, however “lose weight for wedding” or “lose baby weight” would be a niche market. You can take any broad subject and then hone down a niche within. “Golf” might “golf lessons”, “golf simulator”, “golf tips”, “how to golf”, “lower golf score” “left-handed golfing tips”. All of these would be niches with products to market. People are searching online for help to “fix” what they perceive as problems or shortcomings. (Too much body hair, not enough hair on their heads, bad breath, yellow teeth, small breasts, short penis, thin lips, too much debt, raise credit score, obese; embarrassing personal problems such as herpes, genital warts, bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, toenail fungus…).

Once you find your own niche within these subjects, you will find thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people making a concentrated effort to rid themselves of a problem – your job is to be the person with the answer (your affiliate program).

Common “concentrated” keywords include : get rid of, cure for, natural cure, help, remove, removal, treatment, solution, relief, natural treatment, comparison, review, remedy, solution, how to, fix, repair, restore, buy, purchase.

Let me give you an example: What is something you might want to get rid of? Find a cure for? Get help with? Find a natural home treatment for? Get rid of eczema would be one answer. Get help with gynecomastia (man-boobs) and there’s always acne.

Acne is a huge problem for a lot of people. However it’s too broad of a term and it’s not a niche. So let’s take it down ever further. Let’s make it about a specific body bit. “Back acne” is a good niche for this as an example. Let’s say you find a home remedy for back acne. your keywords could be: “cure back acne”, “help back acne”, “remove back acne”, “symptoms of back acne”, “back acne home remedy”, “back acne quick cure”….

Why so exact? Why not just use “acne”?
The word “acne” is going to have wayyyy too much competition. Concentrate on lesser searched keywords and you can rule a niche market quickly. Then concentrate on the more competitive keywords. Love Technology? Then do I have a toy you’ll love! Micro Niche Finder tool is responsible for helping me dig deep into a TON of areas I never would have thought of – well I may have thought of them but it wouldn’t have been as quick! – This software is so easy to use your grandmother wouldn’t be confuzzled by it and you get numbers and results direct from Google.Check it out here Micro Niche Tool – I can’t recommend it enough!
Niche Market List
Use this list to help you brainstorm topics or things that you have interest or experience in.

Animals and Pets Arts and Crafts Auto Buying
Auto Mechanics Health and Fitness Home Business
Home Buying Home Decorating Religion
Canning Carpentry Catering
Child Development Christianity E-zines
Gardening Home Finances Home Maintenance
Home Remodeling Internet Internet Business
Internet Marketing Make-Up Pet Care
Pet Grooming Pet Shows Plumbing
Recipes Relationship Sewing Tips
Single Fathers Single Mothers Skin Care
Small Appliance Repair Software Teenage Fathers
Teenage Mothers Teenagers Traveling
Web Design Weight Loss

Another way to find niche markets is to go to Ezine Articles, Helium, Associated Content, Google Blog Search and other article repositories and put in one of those “concentrated keywords” listed above. Just put in “cure for” or “how to fix” and you will get answers from most popular to least and get some cool ideas for niche markets. Use “quotes” when you search to narrow the field and see what comes up. I did that method and put in “cure for” and hit search and the top 3 returns were “Cure for Childhood Eczema”, Cure for Eczema in Babies” and “Curing Eczema in Children”. That told me what to look into. I went to Clickbank and found a home remedy that looked very good and it was geared for babies and children. Nothing harsh was used and it was all natural. I could see this product appealing to mothers with red, itchy, unhappy children. I set up a campaign and it has consistently been a great performer for me and all my articles have been targeted at babies and children with eczema.
Last but not least, write down the last 5 purchases you made where you had to search for something.

For example I needed a waterproof MP3 player for a gift, a portable air conditioner, a baby safety gate, an unlocked cellphone as a gift and a home remedy for reversing Type II Diabetes.

The last one there was for a friend that was diagnosed with diabetes and he was about to be laid off and could no longer afford his medication when his insurance ended and he had heard about a Diabetes Reversal Report. I went looking online and found one, not only did the report have great reviews, a low refund rate and apparently was truly helping people – they also had an affiliate program. I found affiliate programs for all these items and last month alone – I sold 13 waterproof MP3 players for which I made a nifty commission. So think about it, no matter how mundane – if you needed a product or service – chances are great other people do to and nearly everything sold online has an affiliate program associated with it.

Chapter 3 Finding and Choosing Affiliate Programs
Here are places to go find an affiliate program (I personally only use Clickbank, Clickbooth, COPEAC and Markethealth)

*
www.clickbank.com – Masses of ebooks and digital products to download.

Curious about what those numbers under each Clickbank product mean?

*
1.$/sale – this gives you an idea of how much you can expect to earn based on sales of the last 2 weeks.
2. %/sale – this will tell you the percentage of commission affiliates make.
3. %refd – this shows you how many sales the actual merchant is making – this gives you an idea of how well the merchant’s sales page sells too. Ideally I like around 75-85%.
4. grav – the higher the gravity number the more affiliates there are promoting this product. If this product is really hot or newly released you can expect it to be very high – but on the other side of the story so will the competition. A gravity mark higher than 100 usually means the product is VERY popular. For myself, I usually hit products between 25-70 in gravity. Obviously new products aren’t going to have gravity (yet) so you’ll have to consider those an experiment and roll the dice. A good way to describe gravity is if you had a 100 affiliates promoting a product and they made one sale each – the product would have a gravity of 100+. If you had one affiliate promoting a product and she made 100 sales – the gravity would be 10+.
o www.markethealth.com – 50+ natural health products to promote.
o www.clickbooth.com – tons of affiliate programs here
o www.ncsreporting.com – credit related affiliate programs
o www.copeac.com – excellent source of affiliate programs
o www.commissionjunction.com – huge affiliate program market
o www.associateprograms.com/ – another place to find affiliate stuff.
o www.shareasale.com – Another great place to find affiliate opportunities.
o www.linkshare.com – More affiliate programs
o www.widgetbucks.com – I actually make more off this than I thought I would.
There are hundreds more out there – those are just a smattering of the ones my partner and I enjoy promoting from.

What makes a good affiliate program? Try and hook up with a program that pays $20+ or better per sale starting out. Personally, I hook up with items that pay $75 or better per sale now because I figure I’m doing the same amount of work, why not make more? There’s no wrong answer here except don’t go under $20 – it’s really not worth your time. In the beginning, find something that interests you or you feel like you would feel good about representing. If you think something is garbage, believe me, it will shine through in your website.

2 Types if money to be made:
Sale – you get paid a percentage of the sale when someone makes a purchase.
Lead – you get paid when the company gets the email address of a person you referred.
Now you know where to go, let’s find a product to promote. For the sake of argument we’ll go to Clickbank and choose a product.

We find a home remedy for curing back acne. That fits our chosen niche market perfectly. The stats are that it pays 75% commission so we make $32 per sale. The referred rate is 85% and the gravity is 40 so this is within the range I like to promote – popular without too much competition. Now comes the keywords and site building bit. Let’s do it!

Chapter 4- Keywords
Do Keyword Research
Simply put, find ten 2-word phrases (or longer is good as well) that people will use to find search for your product. See the concentrated search words for ideas.

Use Google Keyword Tool (adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal ) to find keywords.
When we search at Google Keyword Tool for “back acne”, we see 40,500 searches a month for this term. So let’s check Google and see how competitive the market is. It’s best of have no more than 500,000 competing sites. Under 50,000 is fantastic. “cure back acne” (remember search using quotes) has 5,570 results and a total of 4 competitors paying for ads on the right-hand side of the page.
This is good.
There aren’t a lot of competing sites and with 4 people advertising that tells us that it’s a fairly profitable niche without too much competition.
You only have 5500 competing sites and these people on the right-hand side of the page wouldn’t be paying for ads if it weren’t profitable. That also means with such little competition we can dominate this niche quickly and be the number one choice for people to obtain the “Curing Back Acne” home treatment book in a short period of time. Some ideas might be “curing back acne”, “buy back acne treatment”, “natural back acne cure”, home remedy for back acne” – all of these will work.

Google also has a new toy they unveiled in December that will show you actual searches around keywords – personally, I’ve been finding it very useful. You can tweak and add more keywords later – 10 to 20 is a very decent start. Make a list as you’re going to need it for the next step. Another tool you can use is the Google Insights Tool – it is a cool way to find breakout keyword phrases that are up and coming in popularity and keep your website or blog seen as an expert in your chosen niche.
Chapter 5 – Setting Up Your Affiliate Sales Page
Get a Name for Your Domain (or Wordpress Blog if using Freebie option)
You have a chosen niche you know is profitable, now get a domain. Using one or two keyword phrases in your domain (blog) name – create the domain of your site. The more your domain name is about your subject – the more relevant Google will consider your website this means your site will appear more towards the top (or the top) in search results and you will experience more visitors and hopefully those visitors turn into paying customers.

Here are a couple of examples:
Domain Name
curebackacnereview.com
heal-back-acne-now.net
backacne-homeremedy.info (see my note about .info names)
cure-back-acne.info
Free Wordpress Blogs (more on this below)
curebackacne.wordpress.com
backacnehomeremedy.wordpress.com

Need to Register a Domain?
Get a website – it’s easy! I highly recommend www.webhostgiant.com with their $4 a month plan hosting plan – you can register unlimited domains for $7.95 each. Also try to use the name of the product or one or two keyword phrases in your domain name. Choose .com, .net or .org names first, I’ve personally never had .info domain names indexed with the same “oomph” as .com or .net names.

No Money Spent way to have a website (Freebie Option)
If you are starting out and you don’t want to spend any money whatsoever (can’t blame you) – set up a free blog at wordpress.com.

This is where I started out and remember everything you do and create there actually belongs to Wordpress and your blog may wind up deleted at some point. It’s not a huge issue and does not happen often, but something you need to keep in the back of your mind.

Also start thinking now if you want to do a presell page where you’re basically a cheerleader extolling the virtues of the product you’re affiliating with to the person tapping their credit card on the computer screen ready to buy OR would you prefer to do a review page where you compare the main product you’re trying to sell to one or more other products?

Both ways have pros and cons.

A Presell Page – is great for really revving up someone to want to purchase a product. The downside is you will usually only have one product on the page so you will only be making one sale at most through the page.
A Review Page is another great way to promote a product. You can pit your chosen affiliate product against a couple of others. The idea here is not to trash any other product but write an honest review of what you found to be the strong points.

A great example I can give you is my partner’s “Don’t Be a Fat Bride” blog that was a review page for “Fat Loss for Idiots” and also reviewed on the page was “Fit Yummy Mummy” both are excellent weight/fat loss products and through the site he actually sold several copies of “Fit Yummy Mummy” as well as “Fat Loss for Idiots” because so many women with children found it more appealing and directly fitting their needs to lose weight before their wedding day.

He did research, even visited a few weight loss forums and got honest opinions from people that had actually used the weight loss programs. That’s his personal research method – you certainly don’t have to do that but it can open up some new promotion avenues if you take an afternoon and explore the product or products you want to promote. So keep that in mind, keep your review pages positive and you stand to sell even more when the #1 product doesn’t exactly fit the needs of the reader but the #2 or #3 products are exactly what they want. Also, know the product your promoting whenever you can, I try to use every product I promote or at least find people willing to try it and give honest opinions.
Those are just a few choices you have when setting up your affiliate sales pages.
Chapter 6 – Setting Up Your Wordpress Blog
You will have two choices when we set up your blog. Paid or Freebie – Both are listed below: Register Domain.Get a website – it’s easy! I highly recommend www.webhostgiant.com with their $4 a month plan hosting plan – you can register unlimited domains for $7.95 each. Also try to use the name of the product or one or two keyword phrases in your domain name. Choose .com, .net or .org names ONLY.

Now if you’re interesting in setting up a Wordpress Blog on your own domain, here’s how to do it

Go to wordpress.com.
This is where I started out and remember everything you do and create there actually belongs to Wordpress and your blog may wind up deleted at some point. It’s not a huge issue and does not happen often, but something you need to keep in the back of your mind.

* Install your wordpress blog.
Don’t flip out too much choosing a theme (template) for your blog – keep it simple. The ones that come with Wordpress are perfectly find to start out with. (Default or Kubrick). You can get fancy schmancy as you learn more.
If you’re using the free wordpress option – just follow instructions to install – it’s insanely simple. In Wordpress you can create Posts (these are blog posts and the most current will be at the top of the page). Also, you can create pages (these are pages accessible off the main page and don’t move – they are static – meaning staying in one place and don’t change when you make other posts).
– - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – -
OPTIONAL If you have your own domain name/hosting, and you want to make your blog look like a regular webpage – make your front page static (meaning it will stay the same) and your blog posts go to another page. This doesn’t work on the freebie Wordpress blogs at www.wordpress.com You need to create the front page (under pages) and post pages before you do this.

From your Wordpress dashboard : Dashboard > Settings > Reading
Front page displays
o Your latest posts
o A static page <– Choose this option

Front page (select page you created from dropdown box)
Blog posts (select page you created where they will appear)

Necessary Plug-Ins
Okay, there are a gazillion plug-ins for Wordpress. I have a few that I consider very useful and here is what I use: Get them at the Wordpress site or go here : wp-plugins.net/beta/
Google Site Map Plug In – Excellent for Helping Googlebot index your site quick and clean.
All-in-One-SEO-Pack – Exactly what the title says Add more as you like but these are the two I usually run with first.

Necessary Pages
There are certain pages on your website that Google and other search engines like to see to give your site relevance as a real website instead of just some janky sales page. Give them what they want. Create the following pages (use the Create “page” option not “post”)
* About Us – Tell briefly what your site is about
* Contact Us – How do people get in touch with you
* Privacy Policy – I have a killer template for this one. Just write me and I’ll give you a link.
* Disclaimer – best for health, make money from home or legal themed sites
* Money back Guarantee – if your product offers a money back guarantee – talk about it!
* Facts Page – Cool facts about the product you’re selling (you can generally glean these off the sales page of the product)
* FAQ Pages – Ditto – just get it off the sales page
* Where to Buy the Product Page – Sometimes people will hit your site and just simply want to buy – give them the link to make a purchase.

Google deducts -30 points from the relevance of your website when you don’t have pages that make it a quality experience for visitors. Simply meeting Google’s standards for quality and relevance in your pages will help your page rank plus other benefits, I’ll show you later.

About Us, Contact Us and Privacy Policy are all the “must have’s” for Google. The rest are gravy and add value.

A Few Other Tweaks for Your WP Blog:
Under Settings, you will need to make a few changes:
Your Choices are :
General – I generally don’t change anything under General
Writing – You can choose default link and post categories here if you’re too lazy or just plain forget to choose when you post.
Reading – This is where you’ll choose how your front (index) page displays, change your blog pages to show at most 1-2 posts at a time and change your feed to show a summary instead of a whole post so people have to visit your site to read more.
Discussion – I generally don’t change much here – read through it and see what changes you want to make.
Media – This is for images sizes and stuff – the presets usually work dandy for me.
Privacy – Make sure this box is checked : “I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers”
Permalinks – Change your permalinks structure to “Custom” and put /%postname%/ in the box to show how to define your posts.
Miscellaneous – The presets in this section work well for me – I usually don’t change them. And that’s the basics for setting up your Wordpress blog – tweak your pages as you like and find what works best for your own purposes but this will get you more than going.
Chapter 7 – Adding Posts – Creating Your Presell/Review Pages
Now comes the part you’ve been waiting for – content creation!

Don’t be intimidated and don’t feel overwhelmed – you can do this.

You’re not under pressure to write Nobel Peace Prize material here – just write something informative.

Write 3-5 Posts on your WordPress Blog
Your posts should be 200+ words and have the keyword in the title, a couple of times in the body. Ideas for posts could be:

*
“Back Acne Home Remedy Scam” (talk about product scams and tout your product.)
*
“Finally a Home Remedy for Back Acne” (talk about a personal experience and how you or someone near and dear found and used this home remedy).
*
“Tips for Beating Back Acne” – Give 3-5 tips for beating back acne and also recommend your product).
*
“7 Deadly Back Acne Sins” (talk about 7 things that aggravate back acne).
*
” Wacky Back Acne Cures” (sometimes the cure is worse than the condition).

Each of your articles should talk about back acne as a problem and the product you’re representing as the solution.
It should read informative NOT like an advertisement. Who wants to read a freakin’ ad? I don’t and neither do you.

After posting your articles, go once a day to www.pingoat.com and send out a ping announcing your posts.

Another option is to Submit One Post Per Day to Social Bookmarkers (www.socialmarker.com or socialposter.com ) The first time you use these services, you will have to sign up and confirm your membership – after that though you will only have to log in and post your blog posts. It’s worth the effort. Use the same email for all accounts so you can keep it organized.

Now for your static page that you set up here – you’ll need to either make it a review or presell page. Create a presell page or landing page. Don’t let that sentence blow your mind. A presell page is just a page that doesn’t blatantly try to sell your product. It merely builds interest in your product and it’s not even mandatory to have a presale page. A presell page talks about the benefits and how XYZ product will make the reader’s life better. Presell pages usually connect to landing pages. If you want to skip the presell page – that’s cool – just build a landing page. Landing page is simply that page people land on when they click an article link or google link to get to your site. A landing page will be a review about the product, comparison of your product to one or two others or personal story about needing and using the product. Add photos, graphics and don’t just have a page of text. Check out your own personal photos for potentials to use or go to www.istockphoto.com for a huge selection of photos and graphics. Honestly, most people hate reading tons of words on a page and landing pages with photos help illustrate your points. It will increase your click through rate (people that click through your site to the sales page and make a purchase).
Now, we’re gonna talk about how to bring people TO your site!
Chapter 8-If You Write it – They Will Come
One of the best ways to get free traffic is to become an expert. YOU? You bet! Create 6 Short Articles (300 words or so) about Your Product Describe why it may be needed.

Take each of your keyword phrases and build an article around each one – then post each article at the following article databases (don’t post the same article at each one – they must be different):
www.ezinearticles.com
1888articles.com
www.articlebase.com
www.articledashboard.com
www.isnare.com
www.e-topic.com

Some people SWEAR by www.tumblr.com but I never have received any decent traffic off it.

Don’t write a promo piece about your product – if it reads even remotely like an advertisement – your article will in all likelihood get rejected. Write an informative piece and try to generate some interest in your website/blog/landingpage in your resource box. Thats the little blurb about you that goes at the end of the articles.

Create a Resource Box that Rocks at the bottom of your articles -3-4 lines is best and remember this isn’t an ad for your site, nor should it read like one. It can be business-like: Joe Schmoe has been a successful online entrepreneur for over a decade and has been featured in magazines and TV. He has created a free 4-part mini-course to jumpstart your online business. Please visit www.joe-schmoes-site.com

It can be funny Joe Schmoe was born naked and helpless in Southern California. He overcame these early obstacles and now runs a successful online business. Joe has created a 4-part mini-course to help other entrepreneurs kick their businesses into high gear. Please visit www.joe-schmoes-site.com

It can be friendly Joe Schmoe has been involved in online business for over a decade. He has now turned his success into a mission to help others achieve their goals through education on successful techniques that get results. Start with Joe’s free 4-part mini-course. www.joe-schmoes-site.com

You get the idea, the point is that the resource box at the bottom of your articles should entice people to find out more about you and your site. I personally get more traffic being silly in my resource boxes. But find what works best for you. TIP – to avoid feeling overloaded – just try to write one article a day for release.

Last word, do you hate writing? I mean really, really hate writing?
Okay you have three choices:
1- Buy PLR (private label rights) content for your website – you can get it here KeywordContent.net/PLR.

2- Hire a writer to create custom content . KeywordContent.net is very affordable with their own staff of inhouse writers that will create excellent content for your website or blog.

3-Use Blogprofitz to “set it and forget it”. Blogprofitz will post as many posts a day as you like and I can tell you from experience the posts get great search engine play and you can target all the niche markets you want. Check it out here Blogprofitz

Visit Forums in your chosen niche
and post a couple of times a week – put a link back to your site in the signature line. Do not spam forums with worthless links back to your site – offer real value and competent dialogue.

Another Kind of Forum Gold If you can find a .edu forum – make friends and POST! .Edu links have a nice heavy weight when they link back to your site. Again, be real and don’t go in and spam – that will get you banned quickly – add substance and worth with your posts.

Chapter 10 – If You Choose to Use Adwords
Set up Adwords Campaign
This will put your ads in that right-hand column on Google search results and on the ad network. There is a fee and you are charged a minimum of .05 to whatever maximum dollar amount you set and it does cost money. You put $10 minimum in your Google account and as long as you have money on your account, your ads will show – this is a fantastic way to drive traffic to a new site – but it’s not necessary to make sales. If you follow the other (free) steps you can make sales no problem. When you set up an adwords account – it’s pretty cut and dried. You choose your keywords, start off with your initial 10 or so that you chose when you put together your niche. Then put the keywords in like this: cure back acne – this is for a broad keyword search “cure back acne” – this is phrase keyword search [cure back acne] – this is exact keyword search Do this for each of your keywords and you should be off to a nice start. Also enter negative keywords. -free and -cheap (entered just like that with the hyphen in front) will eliminate your ads showing up for people searching for free or cheap in your niche.

Next – you will have choices of where to run your Adwords ads. On the search and content networks or one or the other. If I happen to run Adwords on a campaign I will usually run it on both networks for 24 hours and if I haven’t made a sale – I’ll run it on just the search network for a couple of days and then if I haven’t made a sale STILL – I’ll switch to the content network as a lot of the keywords I choose can be had for pennies so it’s a cheap way to send extra traffic.

When you write your ad, don’t be afraid to be a little wacky – I get more clicks from an ad that reads “Most Home Remedies are Cr@p” than I do one that reads “This is the Top Rated Home Remedy”. People are SO immune to advertising you have to work to catch their attention. Also, the more relevant your landing page for your adwords advertisements, the lower your per click can be. Consider using your keyword phrases in your ads and make sure they are on your landing page – it will increase the relevance. Create a special landing page for Adwords if necessary.

Another cool trick. You can’t put “download now” or “order today” or “click here” in your Adwords advertising, however you CAN put it in your URL that shows. Put your landing page in a directory named “click here” or “download now” So your ad would read:
Amazing Selection of Electric Dog Polishers
You can now polish your dog to an
amazing shine in your own home.
www.your-site.com/order-now/

Set yourself a limit for what you’re willing to spend and stick with it. You can put a minimum of $10 on your Google Adwords account and then that’s exhausted, your ads won’t show up anymore until you put more money into the account. As far as bidding amounts go – you don’t have to be #1 to get clicks. I find being #1 leads to a lot of “curiosity clicks” people that just want to see what you have but aren’t really interested in your product. I get the most sales on Adwords appearing in the 6-9th position on the page. I don’t use Adwords a whole lot but they do work to help bring traffic – the slow and steady method of posting articles really works best in the long term.

And In the End
That’s it. That’s my little method for making a good little income online. It doesn’t take up a lot of my time now and here’s how I schedule my campaigns. After choosing a niche and a product here’s how I do it. I actively promote each campaign for 4 weeks. When you start week 2 on an affiliate marketing product – start week 1 of a new one and you’ll have a constant stream of campaigns overlapping. Get organized and it’s not a ton of work.

Week 1
Monday – Create and upload a landing page for my affiliate product. Write a blog post with a link to the affiliate sales page
Tuesday – Post an article with a backlink to the landing page in the resource box. Ezinearticles.com is usually the first place I post.
Wednesday – Submit the landing page to a social network – Twitter has been VERY successful for me.
Thursday – Submit the landing page to 3 directories. Addme.com is useful too.
Friday – Release a press release linking to the landing page.

Week 2
Monday – Post an article to another article directory
Tuesday – Social network the landing page
Wednesday – Submit the landing page to 3 directories
Thursday – Create 3 backlinks (Use the list in Chapter 9)
Friday – Create 3 backlinks

Week 3
Monday – Post an article to another article directory
Tuesday – Social network the landing page
Wednesday – Submit the landing page to 3 directories
Thursday – Create 3 backlinks
Friday – Create 3 backlinks

Week 4
Monday – Post an article to another article directory
Tuesday – Social network the landing page
Wednesday – Submit the landing page to 3 directories
Thursday – Create 3 backlinks
Friday – Create 3 backlinks

If you’re traffic starts to wane, hit the social networks, write a blog post or article or consider a press release.
All of these will work to renew interest in your site.

I wish you much success!
